I only blog every now and then. I work. And I deliver at work. When I feel I have something meaningful, worthwhile and of value to add to the interwebs, I post something up!
I’m a closet-academic and a geek by association, passionate about a few things, namely; being online, brands, strategic marketing and communication. Its fantastic to find myself in a world where they merge.
I graduated from the University of Cape Town with a Bachelor of Arts Degree with majors in Psychology and Organisational Psychology and with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management. My experience in branding, media, marketing and sales has been nurtured whilst working for a South African publishing company on a national magazine and as a strategist within the agency environment.
I currently work at Brandsh, a social media and mobile agency as their Lead Social Strategist.
My focus areas are social media & digital strategy, content generation and community moderation.
1st philosophy:
Interactions should be: SHORT, SWEET, MEASURABLE AND RESPONSIVE,
aimed to grow the community over time.
2nd philosophy:
I prescribe to the notion of prosumers and to create space where you can listen and respond to what your market wants from you.
3rd philosophy:
The brands who with a strong vision, are able to relinquish control and allow growth to develop organically, will be the most successful.
I’m particularly enthused about the development of the initiative Silicon Cape, and serve to contribute to the growth of the SA Tech start-up community.
I believe that the onus is on the originators to take risks and direct that change. Industry begets Industry – and we have the power to determine where it goes!
